Your community resource spot for individuals of all ages and abilities in Cumberland, Dauphin, and Perry Counties.
Community Links was first created in 2001 to help families of young children with disabilities find available community resources and medical care resources that take particular insurance. This site provided specific information about building accessibility for individuals with disabilities. Community Links was based on the practice of “community mapping”. Mapping is identifying resources within a targeted area (neighborhood, community, city, or county). Parents, practitioners, and other community members can be better informed about the kinds of resources and learning opportunities available.
Community Links re-launched as “Early Childhood Community Links” in August 2014 to allow for better and more accessible information for parents and professionals. Vast materials on child development, family activities, events, and resources in Central PA could be found there.
The main goal was to “link” families with everyday community learning opportunities; places at which all children could grow, learn and have positive experiences.
Community Links has grown into a resource for people of all ages and abilities where they can discover how to get connected within their community. Community Links is currently the one-stop spot for community resources. Subjects like early childhood development, school IEPs and transitions into school age and adulthood can all be found on this site. Information on self-advocacy, employment and beyond are also available.
