Cumberland/Perry MH.IDD Task Force is a group consisting of concerned Cumberland and Perry County families, consumers, service providers, county staff and volunteer advocates who have been meeting monthly since 2005. Initially formed to develop day opportunities and residential options for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, the Task Force agreed that these solutions should ideally be located within the consumer’s own community where friendships, close relationships and support services already existed.

While the Task Force had success in expanding these options, there is a long waiting list. They continue to meet regularly to address the broad spectrum of needs, gaps in available resources and lack of funding for the support services that are necessary for everyday living.

MH.IDD Task Force needs and welcomes new members as they continue their efforts. You are invited to attend meetings so that you, too, can have a voice in the on-going efforts to better the lives of those with disabilities. If you care to share your email address with the Task Force, you will be notified of upcoming meetings, that month’s presentation or topic for discussion, and other pertinent information that can help your loved ones as they navigate their own life journey.

Meetings: 1st Wednesday of each month, 5:30-7:30pm, 1615 Ritner Highway, Carlisle, PA 17013.
