Join the Cumberland County Historical Society, as a part of Carlisle Summerfair, on Saturday, July 1st, for living history demonstrations by Stone House History, who will be bringing the life of a “bodger” family to life in the Vales Himes Park outside of the Historical Society Museum. Free and family-friendly.
Stone House History is owned and operated by Jay and Leigh Ann Ouellette. They have been in living history for over 20 years each. Together they bring the life of a bodger and his family to life by capturing everyday moments and making connections to the past for visitors. At events, you can watch both Jay and Leigh Ann demonstrate the tasks that would need to be done, such as carving spoons or other treenware or seeing tapes be made on reproduction tape looms so that they will be ready for the local market. You can see their demonstrations in person by visiting one of the many sites they work with or by visiting one of the many juried markets they attend each year. A complete list of sites and events they will be attending can be found on their website, www.stonehousehistory.com, or by visiting their Facebook page!
