If you have pet, stay tuned for more details here. You may or may not know this, but despite the more popular celebrations that typically occur this month, there’s also a few designated ones for your pet! pet6You know the emotional bond and strong impact pets can have on you, and especially your kids. They not only are an additional member of the family (“our other kid”), but they also serve a therapeutic purpose too. After all, they don’t talk back when you’re disciplining them, right?

February 20th is National Love Your Pet Day (yes, you always love your pet, however, I’ll tell you some ways to pamper them extra special, since this is more like their own ‘holiday’). February 23rd is National Dog Biscuit Day and also Spay Day USA (please trust me, I’m not making these up!).

pet2I’ll start with National Dog Biscuit Day and Spay Day USA, as they are fairly simple. Interestingly, Spay Day was started by the Doris Day Animal League, did you know that? For National Dog Biscuit Day, however, I am unable to provide you with its origin. Instead, I can give you some recipes for dog treats that you can make for them, which are all at least 4-star rated. Homemade goodness…YUM–for your dog anyway!

Now please don’t misunderstand, National Love Your Pet Day is for ANY pet, not just for the dogs. We cannot forget about our other pet1furry, featured, reptilian, or aquatic companions! You can celebrate your pet in a variety of different ways, such as giving them a bath or “special treatment” with grooming. For the small furry friends, like your rabbit, guinea pig, hampster, etc., leave them out of their cages for a longer period of time, while playing and cuddling with them more.

All pets, regardless, will always appreciate being given new toys or new/improved items they need and of course, extra attention. Even birds may like a new tree stand or play pen in their cage, and fish could use some more excitement with a new ornament, decor, or even different colored gravel. There are more ways than you may realize on how to pamper your petPamperedpawgifts.com not only has anything you could imagine (including wedding cakes for your pet!) it also has items for tributes and memorials if your pet is now gone, but not forgotten.

Does your pet like car rides? If so, take them for a car ride, possibly to a new place. Some people actually take their pets on “play dates” with other animals. On the occasion that nether of these are applicable to your favorite companion, there’s always the easiest, and most common way to celebrate them-by taking silly pictures and sharing them on social media. Who doesn’t do this nowadays?

Celebrate with treats…for all!

Any pet of any kind, can have treats on this ‘holiday’ honoring them. When was the last time you made or had a special treat for them? How about even making a cake for them? This ‘holiday’ is the moment to pet5let them know you’re happy they’re in your life, almost like another birthday. Get the kids involved and together, you can make a cake for your cat or a cake for your dog. There also recipes for homemade cat treats the kids can help create too. Try treating your guinea pig, rabbit, or hampster, to a “cake” just for them: use typical novelty snacks from your local store and stack them in a “cake-like” shape. Ta-da! You can do the same thing for your reptile too, using reptile treats.

What about the birds and the fish you may ask? You can give your bird a variety of these tasty treats and maybe even create a smorgasbord with them. Fish love to eat, so they can have a feast with their own food. For any other pet I may have left out, you know what their likes and dislikes are, so pamper them with more of what they love, even its simply more of your time. Enjoy celebrating and honoring your special friends, or ‘other kids’! pet7
