Lions Clubs International is a volunteer service organization with approximatley 45,000 clubs in 197 countries and geographical areas. Club members provide community service and promote better international relations. As each communitiy's needs and resources are unique, Lions Clubs programs vary from community to community; however the major health programs Lions have established are sight conservation anbd work with the blind, diabetes awareness, hearing and speech action and work with the deaf. Lions Clubs collect used eyeglasses and hearing aids. The eye glasses are processed, (sorted, cleaned, prescriptions dtermined and marked, packaged and filed) for distribution by trained distribution teams. The hearing aids are refurbished by a proffessional to fit the individual needs of each recipient. To learn where to donate used eyeglasses and hearing aids, please contact a local club.
