For most, a new year brings optimism. A clean slate and opportunity to set new goals.

What are your traditions for New Year’s Eve? Do you have a party at home or go out on the town? Do you celebrate with your children? What do you remember about this holiday when you were a child? These are interesting topics to discuss as you replay 2014 and make plans for 2015. We celebrate all of the life we’ve lived in 2014 and anxiously await what the future holds.

You”ll see hundreds of ideas if you research, “New Year’s Eve party at home with children” on the web. If your children are very young, setting the clocks back two hours so that you can celebrate “midnight” at 10 pm is a good option. If you have other families coming to your house with children, setting the dress code as pajamas would make things much easier. This idea, is quite adorable for a children’s toast.

Choosing finger foods that your children enjoy, or making decorations together are some of the many ways to involve children into the festivities. When I give them time, my children tend to be more creative than me.  Here is another important tip: No need to purchase noisemakers. Most children make excellent noisemakers, since most have excess noise.

Many families reflect on past successes and failures and make plans for the future together. To me, this is about as close as you can get to being a family of superheroes. Conquering all and rising above, guarding each other’s backs.
