Agency: Building Blocks Therapy, LLC
Role: Special Instruction
Years worked in EI: 2 1/2 years
Favorite pastime: My favorite pastime is coaching and playing all sorts of sports. I really enjoy coaching all ages to help build interest, confidence, and self-esteem in young athletes. I am an assistant softball coach at Shippensburg University. I also really enjoy reading. I enjoy Jodi Picoult books, Nicholas Sparks books, The Hunger Games series, books that are motivational, and books based on historical events. I am secretly a history buff.
Favorite children’s book: I can’t remember about my toddler years, but I know I really loved the books, “If you give a Mouse a Cookie & If you give a Moose a Muffin.” In elementary school, I loved reading Beverly Clearly (Romana Quimby) and Goosebumps books.
Favorite toy as a child: I really loved K’nex when I was little. I also remember playing and loving “Duck Hunt” on the original Nintendo. In general, I preferred to be outside playing with my older brothers.
The best part about working in EI is: The best part about working in EI is getting to know all the wonderful families and their children. When each child makes even the littlest gain/success/mastery of a skill, I enjoy celebrating and being a part of that success. I also love that every day is different. I visit different children and can always count on something new and exciting to happen every day.
In this “Getting to Know You” series, we will periodically feature one of our dedicated therapists, teachers, and service coordinators from the birth to three and preschool programs in Central PA. Check back with us often to get to know the wonderful people we have in our early intervention system — you may see some familiar faces!
